Purchase of sports uniform for children in the Bilohorodka community

On 2 August, a ‘Parents vs Children’ park volleyball tournament took place in the village of Muzychyna, Kyiv Oblast. Family competitions, friendly greetings and a picnic in thepark afterwards have become a new annual tradition for the Bilohorod community. Way of Hearts Foundation acted as a partner for the event.

How the foundation helped

Thanks to funds from the Foundation’s members and partners, we were able to purchase sports uniforms to support the community’s sporting initiatives. Before the game began, a representativeof the Foundation presented the children’s team with their new uniform and wished the parents and their children sporting success.

In turn, Anton Ovsienko, the village head of Bilohorodka, expressed his gratitude to Yulia Ovcharenko, head of the Foundation, for supporting such local initiatives.

Why this matters

In his opening speech, the Chairman welcomed the participants and guests of the tournament and noted this event had become a new and important tradition for the community. Anton Ovsienko isconvinced that a blend of sporting rivalry and family warmth is the key to a close-knit community.

At the end of the day’s competition, the children’s team defeated the parents’ team with a score of 77–55. And after the winners had been presented with their awards,Oleksandr Tsoma, the volleyball coach for the village of Bilohordka, prepared his signature pilaf in keeping with tradition and treated those present.

Way of Hearts is open to supporting sports and other initiatives that promote the high-quality development of children’s sport and education – primarily in rural areas, where itis more difficult to ensure equal access to the level of services available in large cities.
