Renovation of the rehabilitation centre in Kyiv Children’s Hospital No. 7

In August 2023, thanks to donations from our supporters, the ‘Path of Hearts’ Charitable Foundation organised the renovation of the physical and psychological rehabilitation roomat Kyiv Children’s Hospital No. 7. The new equipment will improve the quality of life for young patients with congenital physical and psychoneurological disabilities, as well as speed up children’s recovery followinginjuries and illnesses.

Why this matters

According to the hospital’s head Lyubov Zabudskaya, rehabilitation measures are an integral part of the treatment of children with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as cerebral palsy,infantile cerebral anaemia, spastic dysplastic hemiplegia, as well as for young patients with autism, attention deficit, hyperactivity and other mental disorders.

These conditions are usually accompanied by limitations in motor activity, developmental delays and social difficulties, and rehabilitation measures help to comprehensively improve the qualityof life for such patients.

How the centre works

The centre has several rehabilitation rooms. The first is a sensory room designed to provide psychological relief. It is used to treat children with neurotic disorders, acute vegetative-vascularreactions and anxiety.

Equally important is the occupational therapy room, where a range of activities are carried out to help restore everyday functioning. It assists children with reduced muscle tone and poor circulationand joint pain.
