We continue the medical care for our foundation’s young friend

In late 2025, the Foundation learned about Yevhen Vovchok and his mother, Olena. Doctors diagnosed Yevhen with a complex metabolic disorder, a delayed speech and mental development. The boyhas a Group 1 disability, and his mum is doing everything she can to ensure that, despite the war, her son undergoes regular check-ups and is registered with specialist doctors. At that time, the Foundation covered Yevhen’srehabilitation at the ‘Malyatko+’ private clinic in Khmelnytskyi.

In most such cases, the primary diagnosis is always complicated by a significant number of comorbid conditions. And Yevhen, unfortunately, is no exception – the boy is a carrier of herpesviruses types 4 and 6, has lactose intolerance, has suffered from reactive arthritis – and this is not an exhaustive list. The child’s test results consistently indicate a high viral load in his body.

How the foundation helped

The Foundation covered the full range of tests at the ‘Dila’ clinic to determine whether the boy has any genetic abnormalities that affect his viral load, if they complicate thecourse of his primary condition or hinder his rehabilitation.

Why this matters

Yevhen’s diagnosis requires constant medical supervision and regular rehabilitation, whilst his comorbidities significantly slow down this process and hinderprogress. It is important to identify these disorders and understand how to manage them going forward, so that the child has the opportunity to develop appropriately for his age.
